SCHOOLCHILDREN have been trying their hand at circus skills, street dancing, African drumming and flamenco dancing.
About 210 youngsters at Hagbourne School, in East Hagbourne, enjoyed the week-long arts and music festival, which ends today. Pupils had a go at flamenco, tested 60 different African drums and shakers, tried juggling, tightrope walking and plate spinning, and learned many different modern day dance moves.
Headteacher Richard Jones said: “We have been trying to give the children lots of opportunities to have a go at things that they might not normally have the chance to do.
“Everyone loved doing flamenco dancing on Monday. The children had great rhythm while taking part in the African drumming day on Tuesday.
“The circus teacher on Wednesday enthused the pupils.
“We had four-year-olds spinning four plates at one time which was incredible.
“The kids loved the street dancing and said the teacher had really inspired them.”
To culminate the festival, schoolchildren will be visited by a host of musicians, including ex-pupils, today.
